WHAT IS A WAR BINDER

So what is a War Binder? Well, it’s a binder for war! It’s a place to plan, prepare, document, and record the strategies, prayers, and victories of the most important war you will ever fight. The war between good and evil. The war of your soul. As a Christian your war binder can be one of the most powerful weapons in your arsenal. As a creative soul a war binder can serve as beautiful, colorful, and organized proof of your one on one relationship and journey with the one true God.

A war binder can be as simple or as creative as you like. The possibilities are endless!

WAR BINDER INSPIRATION

Even though it’s called a binder, a war binder can be as simple as a monthly planner or even a 1 subject notebook. Basically, all you need is time to connect with the Lord, a pencil, and some paper.

BASICS OF A WAR BINDER

Most war binders are set up into sections. Divided by tabbed dividers and labeled for a unique purpose or topic.

Here is a list of sections you may want to include in your binder:

Sermon notes
Scripture writing
Journaling
Planning
Bible Study
Inspirational Quotes
Photos
Prayers
Daily Gratitude
Stewardship

SUPPLIES NEEDED TO CREATE A WAR BINDER

Once you have decided on what you would like to include in your binder you’re ready to start putting it together.

Here is a break down of the supplies that you may want to gather:

Dividers (cardstock, scrapbook paper, pretty file folders)
Paper (blank, lined, grid, bullet, heavy weight, and maybe even watercolor)
Glue
Scissors or Paper Trimmer
Sticky Notes
Your favorite pens, markers, and coloring pencils
Decorations (ephemera, stickers, washi tape, etc)

DESIGNING DIVIDERS

The first thing that you want to create and decorate are your dividers. The dividers will be the face of each section and should be tabbed and labeled for quick reference. Dividers should also be durable, heavy cardstock or laminated pattern paper make great dividers.

For my dividers I used some very beautiful paper from Fancy Pants Design. This very colorful and vibrant collection is perfectly named the Bright Side. The Bright Side is stunning. It's full of elegant florals, strips, and seasonal patterned papers. To see the full collection click HERE

DIY INSERTS FOR YOUR WAR BINDER

Depending on the size and style you chose for you war binder will determine on the type of insert you’ll need for the “meat” of your sections. For example if you went with an A5 size you’ll need paper (either lined, graphed, plain or bulleted) to put in between each divider to create that section. If you chose a different size like perhaps a Traveler’s Notebook size you’ll need to purchase inserts or, my personal preference, create your own. Creating your own inserts and customizing the style of paper and decor in each section is a lot of fun and full of possibilities.

FUN EMBELLISHMENTS FOR YOUR WAR BINDER

Once you have your binder assembled the fun doesn’t stop. Creating beautiful embellishments for your planner is my favorite part. My personal favorite is funky and chunky paper clips. I really love creating bows or ribbon clips but I also like putting together fun dashboards with colorful clips and sticky notes.

Overall, a war binder is not only a needed item for any Christian who is seeking to grow closer to God but is a must have for a "creative" Christian who needs a way to express their faith and worship.
